DESCRIPTION: EPW - Charles Frodsham, 84 Strand, London, chronograph keyless lever with regulator style dial, 54mm, very heavy 18K gold original HC bearing London hallmarks for 1870, "A N" marking in oval cameo for casemaker Adolph Nicole, ornate monogram initials to front, gold cuvette, white enamel DS dial, SW-pin-set with Nicole Nielsen keyless winding system, fully capped lever escapement, at least 19J, gilt mvt, s#04362. Gross weight of assembled watch 113.3 dwt (176.2 g).
CONDITION: Mvt: Running after a sluggish start, good chronograph function, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, some haze to plate surfaces, two scratches at perimeter of main plate right of "AD fmsz" marking, few fine to micro-fine scratches elsewhere; dial with some scattered hls, small flake at right perimeter of seconds-register below "10" marking which includes a small segment that appears to have been re-secured with glue, small edge flake under bezel above "60" minute numeral; nearly mint hands, small bit of oxide to center hub of minute; case rear with some play at its hinge, case shows light wear, scattered pinpoint nicks, ding to upper portion of cuvette, no dents, good engraving detail; tight bow, crown shows medium wear; good thick glass crystal.
